Self-taught, he worked as a DJ and ran a clothing brand before devoting himself to painting. He is represented by The Third Line gallery in Dubai, which presented his exhibition “Palimpsests”.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eAn identity in motion\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eHis figures, often at rest at home in traditional dress, are surrounded by the symbols of the Middle East and the everyday scenes of Tangier, Marrakech or Fez, with surreal touches and a Sufi, mystical undercurrent. Often compared to Goya, whom he long studied at the Prado, Khalifi paints from memory, without planned characters, wanting each to keep his unique features.
