{"title":"Fatna Gbouri","description":"\u003cp\u003eFatna Gbouri was born in 1924 in Tnine Gharbia, a small village in the province of Safi. Like the other women of her village, she worked the land and wove carpets. After the death of her husband, she began painting in 1984, at the age of 59, encouraged by her son Ahmed Mjidaoui, himself a painter and art teacher.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWith no formal training, she drew on memory to paint scenes of traditional Moroccan life: bright colours, signs and motifs, and narrative sequences full of vivid characters. Her spontaneous, naive style earned her the nickname \"the memory of Safi\". She also worked in tapestry and ceramics.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA major figure of Moroccan naive art, she exhibited in Morocco and abroad, including France, Germany, Portugal and the United Arab Emirates.
