Painter
Abdelhay Demnati
Born in Fez, Abdelhay Demnati expresses his perception of the world with great poetry and a frontal sense of pictorial space. His works do away with any hierarchy between the parts of the canvas, bringing his concerns, reflections and passions to light within the vast field of contemporary illumination and miniature.
The artist
Intimate women's rituals in riads, festivities, processions, souks and popular cafés, halqas, walks, alleys and lessons at the Qarawiyyin: his decorative compositions express the diversity of his themes in endless variations of delightful arabesques and interlacing, with a strong presence of Arab-Muslim tradition. With delicacy and beauty, he confronts his art with the demands and dynamism of modernity.
