About Ahmed Krifla
Ahmed Krifla is a self-taught painter born and raised in Taza, a city he never wanted to leave. Drawn to drawing and painting from a very young age, he devoted his career to portraying his native region.
His figurative work shows wheat fields, olive groves, wooded corners and scenes of family life, painted in vivid reds, oranges and purples with a play of light that gives them a slightly dreamlike quality. He often worked from his own photographs, taken on walks, and paid particular attention to trees and their tense, branching forms. Now of advanced age, he no longer paints.
