About Aziz Sahaba
Born in 1965, Aziz Sahaba graduated from the Tétouan School of Fine Arts in 1990. He works with paper, cardboard and newspaper clippings, collaged and reworked in pastel, in layered compositions of graphics, colour, bodies and faces.
The body is at the heart of his work, in both its physical and psychological nakedness: genderless figures that carry a deep melancholy, painted with poetic force. He exhibited with the Casablanca collective « La Source du Lion » in 1995, was noticed at the 5th Biennale of Young Moroccan Painting organised by the Wafabank Foundation, and held his first solo exhibition in Tangier.
