About Mohamed Chatir
Born in 1953, Mohamed Chatir trained in graphic arts at the School of Applied Arts in Casablanca (1970–1974), then at the Regional Teaching Centre in Rabat. He taught art for nearly forty years, including at the fine arts school of the Lycée Jaber Ben Hayane in Casablanca, and also practises graphic design, illustration and the restoration of paintings and sculptures.
He has exhibited regularly since the 1970s, including at the spring salons of the French Cultural Centre in Casablanca and in several solo shows at Crédit du Maroc. In 2012 he exhibited works on the louha, the traditional Quranic school tablet, at the cultural space of the Hassan II Mosque.
