Painter
Mohamed Nouiri
Born in 1969, Mohamed Nouiri won the Mariano Bertuchi landscape prize and the first Carlos Gallegos painting prize in Tetouan in 1992. He has taken part in many group exhibitions in Morocco, Spain, Senegal and France, and exhibits regularly in Rabat, Marrakech and Casablanca, while remaining deeply attached to northern Morocco.
The artist
His painting moves constantly from personal anecdote to collective experience: he speaks only of his own daily life, yet seeks to make it the viewer's own. For Nouiri, a work must remain open, close to poetry, where each viewer can finish the poem. It is in this shared ground, he believes, that art resides.
