About Omar Mahfoudi
Born in 1981 in Tangier, Omar Mahfoudi first focused on portraiture before turning to landscape. Working with liquid acrylic and ink, he builds scenes on the border between figuration and abstraction, where drips and diluted colour give bathers, seascapes and twilight landscapes a hazy, dreamlike presence.
His love of cinema shows in his framing and his treatment of light. His works are held in collections including the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Museum of African Contemporary Art Al Maaden. He lives and works between Paris and Tangier.
