Buying your first original painting can feel intimidating. Galleries seem hushed, you're not sure what to ask, and you may wonder whether you "know enough" about art. Here's the truth: you don't need to be an expert. You need to know what you love, and what to check. Here's everything, step by step.

Why an original changes everything
A print is an image. An original is an object: the relief of the paint, the trace of the brush, the decisions of an artist who stood in front of that very canvas. And it is unique. No one else in the world will have the same work on their wall.
1. Set a budget, then browse freely
Price depends on the artist, the size and the technique. Decide on a comfortable range, then explore without guilt. Every work's price is shown on its page.
2. Size matters more than you think
A 50 × 76 cm work by Abdelwahab Belkhayat, a 100 × 100 cm painting by Youssef Zouhari and a 120 × 120 cm work by Mohamed Benhamza need very different walls. Tape the size on your wall before deciding.
3. Ask the four questions that matter
- What is the technique and the support (oil on canvas, acrylic, mixed media, oil on skin)?
- Do the dimensions include the frame?
- What condition is it in? Can I see a close-up or a video?
- Is it signed? Is there a certificate of authenticity?
A serious gallery is always happy to answer.
4. See it with your own eyes
Photos never fully show texture and colour. Come to ARTWORKS in Casablanca, or ask us for a video to see the light play on the surface.
5. Simple delivery and payment
Delivery in Casablanca and Rabat within 48 hours, everywhere else in Morocco in 3 to 4 days; international delivery on quote. Pay cash on delivery, by bank transfer or by cheque. To hold a work, reserve it on WhatsApp from its page.
Our tip: buy the work you can't stop thinking about. That feeling is the best guide there is.
