About Abd Errazak Ahmamou
Abderrazak Ahmamou is a Moroccan painter born in Oued Zem in 1966. His artistic career began in the 1990s, and his work has appeared in exhibitions across Morocco. Although he did not follow a conventional academic art programme at first, he developed an early interest in painting and attended workshops organised by Morocco's Ministry of Culture. A scholarship later enabled him to study art in France.
Artistic journey
His first exhibition, held in Rabat in 1998, featured figurative works. Over time, Ahmamou moved towards abstraction while retaining his interest in vibrant colours and geometric motifs.
Style and materials
His paintings combine bold colour, geometric shapes inspired by traditional Moroccan symbols, and flowing lines. He explores form and colour to create atmospheric compositions that reflect his connection to Morocco's landscapes, culture and history.
Exhibitions and other work
Ahmamou has exhibited in Moroccan cities and abroad, including France and Belgium. In 2020, he held a solo exhibition at Galerie Nadira La Découverte. Alongside painting, he has also worked with traditional Moroccan materials, including leather and beads, to create jewellery and accessories in collaboration with local designers.
