Painter
Abdessalam Sefraoui
Born in Casablanca in 1983, Abdessalam Sefraoui is a self-taught painter who discovered painting at the age of eleven, creating his own small world full of imagination, colour, texture and form. For years he kept his talent private, collecting sketches and canvases, before deciding with maturity to share his work with the public.
The artist
A citizen of the world, he draws inspiration from his many travels and transcribes it into paintings that convey love, joy and serenity. His contemporary works merge two worlds: abstraction and figuration, light and darkness, the real and the imagined, gentleness and ferocity, clarity and mystery. The contrast between the painted quarter and three-quarters of the canvas sets what the naked eye sees against the abstract side of the same reality, urging us to look beyond form.
Harmonious simplicity, a perfectionist eye for detail and a bold touch of madness define his style, giving viewers a burst of good energy at first glance.
