Painter
Abdessamad Bouysramne
Born in Marrakech, in the Derb El Hammam district, Abdessamad Bouysramne belongs to a new generation of Moroccan artists who carry their talent without pretension, with an engaging frankness and a lucid view of the art world.
The artist
Nothing in his childhood pointed to painting. First drawn to the sciences, he switched to applied arts almost by chance: "I didn't know what to do with my life, and at first I couldn't draw," he recalls. Through relentless practice he made rapid progress, and in 2017 graduated with distinction from the École des Beaux-Arts in Casablanca.
His talent was crowned by the first prize for contemporary calligraphy, an honour presented by King Mohammed VI, a well-deserved recognition of a demanding and singular practice.
