About Ahmed El Hayani
Born in 1974 in Tamesnite, Ahmed El Hayani lives and works in Casablanca. At the National Institute of Fine Arts in Tétouan he mastered drawing, painting and sculpture, but it was calligraphy that marked him most, giving him the strength of the gesture.
Settling in Casablanca, he found in architecture a model for composition: his canvases are built from the relationships between full and empty, dense and light, inside and outside. He was in residence at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris in 2010 and has exhibited in Bilbao, Paris, Marrakech, Rabat and Casablanca.
