About Fatima Bikerouane
Originally from Essaouira, Fatima Bikerouane studied applied arts before going on to university studies in science in Marrakech. Her work is deeply symbolic: she paints symbolic creatures on goatskin, using oil, henna and other pigments, a living material with a long history.
She also works in mixed media on canvas. Her themes draw on the Amazigh side of Moroccan identity, on science and on questions facing society.
