Painter
Fatima Louardiri
Born in Salé in 1956, Fatima Louardiri is the daughter of the painter Ahmed Louardiri and belongs to the core group of Moroccan naive painters. Her talent showed early and earned her several prizes, and she has represented Morocco at major art events.
The artist
"Through my paintings, I wanted to convey Moroccan authenticity by bringing its customs and traditions back to life in an artistic way," she says. Her canvases revive the traditional wedding, the Moroccan caftan and the Gnawa, and celebrate the richness of family life in rural Morocco, where women play a central role.
Drawn from childhood memories, her colourful, detailed compositions stage scenes of daily and family life with a touch of nostalgia for the happy life of the countryside.
