Né en 1975 à Akka, titulaire d’un baccalauréat en arts plastiques, M’barek Bouhchichi enseigne l’art depuis le milieu des années 1990 à Tiznit.
Le travail de l’artiste repose sur la représentation et la perception du corps noir dans la société marocaine. Le corps constitue un thème aux ramifications multiples dans l’œuvre de M’barek Bouhchichi. Moulé, sculpté, dessin é, peint, il est mis en exergue à travers un kaléidoscope de signes, de fragments (presque votifs) et d’images qui donnent à voir le multiple ou l’ éclat é. Mains, t êtes, visages, empreintes se font métaphores, doubles – voire doublures – de corps invisibles qui peinent à faire un.
Ils renvoient au morcellement du corps humain et à l’ éclatement de la perception, assignant donc au regardant la responsabilité de reconstituer les nombreuses significations imaginaires et symboliques de l’image du corps éclat é, ou de s’ égarer dans l’opacité d’une telle fragmentation.
Ce travail plastique sur le corps s’ouvre donc à une pensée sociale et politique au sein de laquelle les notions d’identité, corporéité, différence et altérité sont explorées. Parmi les questions qui ont guidé les recherches plastiques récentes de M’barek Bouhchichi : comment la représentation du corps noir dans les domaines des arts plastiques et visuels, littérature, poésie et musique, a-t-elle é t é conditionnée par des approches définies à partir de la race et de la sexualité, ainsi que la question du regard ? Ses œuvres ont intégré des collections de renom dont celle du Musée National d’art moderne du Centre Georges Pompidou (France), du Musée d’art contemporain Africain Al Maaden (Maroc), de l’American Friends of the Arts in North Africa Foundation (États-Unis), de la Fondation CDG (Maroc), du Ministère des Finances (Maroc), de Diana Holding (Maroc), du Musée d’art contemporain Helga de Alvear (Espagne), de la Fondation CALOSA (Mexique) et de la Kells Art Collection (Espagne). M’barek Bouhchichi vit et travaille à Tahannaout, Maroc.
