Painter
Mohamed Berrada
Born in Settat, the late Mohamed Berrada was a self-taught painter with a style all his own. Working with spatula, knife and natural pigments, he depicted typically Moroccan architecture, old buildings, terraces, ancient doors and medina alleys, as well as natural landscapes, tbourida and the many facets of Morocco.
The artist
Painting from 2000 onwards, he developed a figurative style infused with expressionism and abstraction, dedicated to his native land and to a culture rooted in history. In 2008 he won third prize at the annual Spring Arts Festival in Orlando, Florida, selected among some 140 American and international artists for the originality of his work. His paintings, sought after in Morocco and abroad, have entered museum and private collections, notably in the United States.
