Painter
Mohamed Cherkaoui Sellami
Mohamed Cherkaoui Sellami is a Moroccan painter from Salé, regarded as one of the most notable artists of his native city. Entirely self-taught, he refused to let his creativity be confined by any academic framework, learning on his own the secrets of colour and its harmonies.
The artist
His figurative painting offers an aesthetic vision of reality in a distinctive language of colour, explored across a wide range of themes. Exhibiting since 2001, mainly in Salé and Rabat, he also took part in mural projects, and in 2015 won second prize at a national group exhibition held by the Supreme National Council of Green March Participants.
