Painter
Mohamed Fquih Regragui
Born in Tangier in 1938, Mohamed Fquih Regragui gave up his law studies to devote himself entirely to painting. Before his first major exhibition, in Tangier in 1960, he had already won several prizes, and in 1966 he received the gold medal at the international competition of the International Press Association.
The artist
After periods of research in figuration and then abstraction, he turned to still life and strikingly hyperrealist representation. For many years he has painted textiles, most famously caftans hanging from a nail, a goldsmith's work that has earned him great prestige.
