Behind our first exhibition: Radia Lamrani Karim and Chouaib Chkairi

Every gallery has a first time. Ours brought together two painters who, at first glance, had nothing in common. One paints light and colour. The other paints the space between people. Putting them side by side was a bet.

That bet became Éclats d'identité et Reflets de l'Invisible, the inaugural exhibition of ARTWORKS by Moroccan Paintings in Casablanca, extended until the end of January 2025.

Radia Lamrani Karim: painting light

Radia Lamrani Karim's abstract compositions are pure energy: colour, form and material colliding on large canvases, including her African Lights series.

Chouaib Chkairi: painting what separates us

Chouaib Chkairi's paintings explore isolation, presence and the distance between people. They don't shout. They ask you to come closer, and the closer you get, the more they reveal.

Why the pairing worked

Colour and silence. Joy and introspection. Moving from one artist to the other felt like stepping from daylight into shade. The extension until the end of January gave visitors the chance to come back and look again.

And now?

Chouaib Chkairi now teaches the weekly painting workshops at ARTWORKS: a rare chance to meet the artist and paint alongside him. See the workshop schedule.
