Painter
Abdellatif Zeraidi
The doors and lanes of Salé and Fez, then the landscapes of the Grand Duchy: Abdellatif Zeraïdi paints light with a colourist’s mastery inherited from the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists.
The artist
Career
Born in Ouezzane on 24 December 1960, Abdellatif Zeraïdi studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Tetouan, then, at around thirty, left for France, where he attended the École nationale des Beaux-Arts in Dijon before settling in Alsace. He has exhibited in Luxembourg, Belgium, France and Morocco.
From the medina to the Grand Duchy
His early work was devoted to purely Moroccan landscapes, medinas, old gates and lanes of Salé and Fez. In Europe he captured the atmosphere of Luxembourg’s picturesque landscapes, with a treatment of colour and light that places him in the lineage of plein-air painting.
