The artist
Career
Born in Tours in 1966, Alain Oggo grew up surrounded by painting through his two elder brothers. A qualified optician from the age of twenty, he also practised music, poetry, cooking and decoration, through a long and sometimes mystical path of self-knowledge. A three-month stay in Marrakech was the trigger: at thirty-eight he settled in Agadir to live his two passions, painting and surfing.
OggO-rientalisme
Through drawing and mixed media, pastes and luminous mixtures, his pop medinas combine scenes of life and traditional symbols with a satirical eye: the visible and the hidden mingle in a maze of joyful surprises, a hymn to the land that welcomed him.
