Painter
Abdelilah Zokhrouf
Red above all, the colour of vivacity, passion and energy: Abdelilah Zokhrouf has left figuration for a semi-abstract and abstract painting that he describes as a journey into the soul.
The artist
From figuration to abstraction
Moroccan painter Abdelilah Zokhrouf goes beyond visual perception. Each canvas draws the viewer into a world of symbols in which flames of spirituality burn, set down with spontaneous, inventive fantasy. His luminous, brilliant, almost transparent tones create a joyful, festive world; for the painter Nadia Ghassal, he is a “magician of colour”, always ready to embark on a new humanitarian, civic or artistic adventure.
A farandole of colour
The artist and critic Mouna Louraoui sees in his work great finesse, freedom of movement and an explosion of joy and hope, with colours and compositions dancing in a wild round. His recent paintings are a journey into a memory laid bare, a journey of the senses.
