The artist
Career
Born in Tetouan in 1943, Abdelwahad Sordo studied at the School of Fine Arts in Tetouan from 1962 to 1965, then at the Santa Isabel de Hungría school of fine arts in Seville. He began teaching drawing in 1970 and specialised in artistic printmaking and restoration. He lives and works in Tetouan.
Geometry and dream
Alongside his work as a teacher of drawing, painting techniques and printmaking, Sordo has kept up his career as a painter. Geometry structures his images, while the dreamlike content of his compositions gives them their surrealist tone; his prints show a fine mastery of tonal nuance.
