Painter
Aicha Aboutaleb
Multidirectional, labyrinthine lines laid down with a syringe, a whirl of life and light: Aicha Aboutaleb paints, without knowing it at first, in a manner the press has compared to the Aboriginal women painters of Australia.
The artist
Career
Born in Safi in 1972, Aicha Aboutaleb is a self-taught painter passionate about Aboriginal painting. Her syringe technique and her dreamlike world have drawn comparisons with the “women of the desert”, the Petyarre sisters.
The magical cult of life
An expressionist and hypersensitive artist, she has developed a strong symbolic approach around the theme of abundance, stylising forms with a lyrical gesture that brings beings in full movement to life. She paints what she feels rather than what she sees, inventing a labyrinth where the mind can lose itself in dream and poetry. Each canvas is an autobiographical ritual, nostalgic and joyful, celebrating everyday life and the generous world of colours and familiar figures.
