The artist
Career
Born in Rabat, Abdellatif Belmiloud trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, where he won several prizes of high distinction, the Charles Bulus Prize and a merit prize, graduating in figurative art in 1982. He has exhibited in Morocco and abroad and painted several murals outside Morocco.
A return to sources
His painting draws its symbolism from the environment and from the themes of the land, in mauves, greens and blues. It is a return to sources rather than a break with the universal: a constant search for identity and an illumination of collective memory.
