Spacious modern hotel lobby with elegant lighting

Hotel, restaurant, office: how art transforms a space (and how to choose it)

Think of the last hotel lobby that stayed with you. You probably don't remember the sofas. You remember a feeling: warmth, calm, a sense of place. Very often, that feeling comes from what hangs on the walls.

Original art is one of the most powerful ways to give a professional space a personality. Here is how to choose it well.

The first thing guests see, the last thing they forget

A reception wall is a first impression. Before anyone speaks, a large original work tells visitors that the place has taste and a story. In a restaurant, art sets the mood as much as the lighting. In an office, it tells clients and teams who you are.

Follow your guests' footsteps

Walk through your space as a visitor would: entrance, reception, lobby, dining room, corridors, meeting rooms. At each step, ask one question: where does the eye land? That is where you need a strong piece. Elsewhere, smaller works create rhythm and continuity.

Rule of thumb: one powerful work beats five timid ones. A single large painting gives a wall presence; a scatter of small frames often looks accidental.

Think big where people stand far away

The further people are from a wall, the larger the work can be. A 120 × 120 cm piece by Mohamed Benhamza holds a reception wall on its own. In a corridor or meeting room, a horizontal format like this 50 × 76 cm work by Abdelwahab Belkhayat is easier to live with.

Tell one story, not ten

The most memorable places feel curated, not decorated. Choose a thread, a palette, a technique or a few artists, and follow it through the whole project. Compare the large formats of Mohamed Benhamza, Cheaib El Barki, Salah Benjkan and Mohamed El Hani to find yours.

Moroccan art for Moroccan places

In a hotel or restaurant in Morocco, original works by Moroccan artists give guests what no catalogue print can: a real connection to the country, and a story your team can tell.
